Connor Thompson’s research focuses on the commercialization and development of carbon capture utilization and storage policy. He has academic experience in water law and oil and gas law, while his private practice experience has focused on oil and gas, property, and utility law. Prior to joining the University of Houston, Connor worked in private practice in Overland Park, Kansas, at a small boutique firm specializing in utility law where his work focused on representing clients before the Kansas Corporation Commission and assisting clients with the financial fallout following Winter Storm Uri. Connor received his J.D. and certificate in Energy, Environmental, and Natural Resources Law from the University of Wyoming College of Law, where he was the 2019 Salt Creek Energy Excellence Scholar. He published a law review article in the University of Wyoming Law Review and worked as a research assistant during law school. Prior to receiving his J.D., Connor externed for the Honorable Alan B. Johnson of the United States District Court, District of Wyoming and interned for the Wyoming Attorney General’s Office. Connor is currently licensed to practice in Kansas.
