Posted here is the instruction portion of the final examination. The actual question portion (which is not included) is 6 pages, double spaced.
Please read this document before the exam.
The exam is Tuesday, May 10, 2011, 9 a.m. to noon, for 3 hours.
The exam room is the same for everyone and is TUII 211.
Please be in TUII 211 by 8:45 a.m. for examination distribution.
Question One of 5/5/2011: Chapter 3 provides an overview of various Acts (e.g., UCITA, E-sign, UETA); disclosure and consumer rules; and attribution procedures for signatures and records. Would it be worthwhile to spend considerable time focusing on the specific provisions of these acts—i.e., being able to apply §§ 5 and 7 of UETA to a specific fact pattern, or should our focus be more or less at a broader understanding of the Acts and their purpose—i.e., recognizing the need for provisions to account for modern electronic commerce, etc.?
Answer to Question One of 5/5/2011: While I might answer: "one should know all the course material for the examination," the question relates to things I have stated during class time: (i) the two example examinations are highly representative of the exam to be presented; (ii) the two example examinations do not have issues specifically from Chapter 3 as part of the tested material; (iii) when presenting Chapter 3, I emphasized its general contours more than its details, and the overall treatment was somewhat brief and abbreviated; and (iv) items that an examination should emphasize are items that have had more time spent on them in class, not minor amounts of class time.
Question One of 5/8/2011: The exam instructions require that students bring, inter alia, both sample licenses for Tuesday’s exam. Just to be clear, the two sample licenses you are referring to are the Janicke license and the RoyaltyFreeMusic.com license from module one, correct?
Answer to Question One of 5/8/2011: Yes as to the license linked under the Assignment column in Module 1, but no as to the other license mentioned by the questioner. The RoyaltyFreeMusic.com license isn't an assignment because it is not in the Assignment column. The other assigned license is under the Assignment column in Module 4.

Here is a prototype of the exam instructions I anticipate using on the final examination. I contemplate that the ultimate exam instructions will be substantially similar to these instructions, however, I reserve the right to change these exam instructions in any way.
Here is a document about how to write answers for my exams and some information about how I evaluate these answers. There may be revisions to this document during the Spring 2011 "exam season."
Here is a video of a presentation I gave about how to prepare for courses and course examinations. To be most useful, one should watch this video sometime during the first third of the course. Here are the slides used in that video.
Here is a video of a presentation I recommend about how to outline for a course. To be most useful, one should watch this video sometime during the first third of the course.
The items available are the Licensing examinations given below, and a composite student model answer (posted without any individually identifiable information) from students that earned a high grade for each class.
Please note that I generally calibrate the length of my exams with the number of course hours. For a three hour class, the examination will be up to, but no more than, 6 pages, double spaced.
The Spring 2010 Licensing final examination is representative of the final examination I contemplate for the course.
Here is the Spring 2010 Licensing examination, and here is the composite student model answer. Please note that the composite answer does not necessarily address every issue, nor resolve every issue in such a way as to earn all the points for that issue. Both the examination and the answer should be read in light of the documents I have posted above describing how to deal with my exams.
The Fall 2008 Licensing final examination is representative of the final examination I contemplate for the course.
However, please note that the Fall 2008 Licensing course was against a different set of course Materials.
