Capturing the national spotlight, the seven-week fraud trial of Texas financier R. Allen Stanford ended March 6 with the jury convicting him on 13 of 14 counts stemming from a $7 billion Ponzi scheme. Two days later the same jury decided that $330 million located by federal authorities belonged to investors who were victimized by Stanford. University of Houston Law Center Professor Adam Gershowitz commented on the trial in several publications as it was just getting started.
