Externship Information
While the External Placement Faculty Supervisor can provide placement information, it is up to each student to contact the organization to apply, be accepted and make arrangements for their externship prior to applying for the course. You MUST provide complete/detailed information on your supervisor and schedule below.
Organization:
Supervisor:
Supervisor's Email:
Organization's Address:
Organization's Phone Number:
Organization's Fax Number:
Start Date: (may be approximate) Students may not begin work earlier than one week prior to the official start of the school semester without Prof. Bonadero's prior approval.
Planned Date of Completion: (may be approximate)

I am in good academic standing and have completed at least my first year of law school coursework.

I understand that, if this will be my first externship taken for academic credit, I must attend an orientation prior to beginning work.  I promise that I will contact Prof. Bonadero about this orientation as soon as my enrollment appears on my schedule.

Do you understand that you must have the approval of faculty supervisor Professor Janet Heppard before beginning to work at your placement?

I understand that I cannot receive both compensation and academic credit for my externship, (with limited exceptions for certain stipends which I have/will discuss with Prof. Bonadero in advance of my externship.)

I have not worked for this field placement or judge previously.

Generally, Students are not permitted to receive credit for working at a field placement where they have previously worked, whether that previous work was for credit, pay, or on a volunteer basis.

I understand that my externship course is graded on a credit/no credit (Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory) basis, and that if I do not complete both my required number of working hours AND my written assignments for the faculty supervisor, I will not receive credit for my externship.

I understand that, in any one semester, I may elect to participate in EITHER an externship OR a clinic, but not both simultaneously.
Please list any externships you have participated in previously, and indicate whether it was/was not for academic credit

PRIOR TO ENROLLING IN THE EXTERNAL PLACEMENT PROGRAM, PERMISSION MUST BE GIVEN BY THE PROFESSOR. BY SUBMITTING THIS APPLICATION, YOU ARE CERTIFYING THAT THE INFORMATION IS TRUE AND CORRECT.  THE INSTRUCTOR WILL EMAIL YOU WITH QUESTIONS OR WITH APPROVAL/DENIAL OF YOUR APPLICATION.  IF APPROVED, YOUR INFORMATION WILL BE SENT DIRECTLY TO STUDENT SERVICES FOR ENROLLMENT.
