Course Outline: This is the introductory course in professional responsibility and legal ethics. Students learn the sources of legal ethics and the sanctions available against unethical lawyers, as well as debate whether a good person can be a good lawyer. Topics covered include confidentiality, conflicts of interest, whistle blowing, and judicial ethics. Students will be exposed to concepts tested on the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE).

First Day Assignments: We have a lot of material to cover in a short amount of time. Therefore I have attached the syllabus as well as the first day’s reading. You can also access course materials, including the syllabus, on the TWEN section of Westlaw. We will cover the syllabus and stay on schedule, so if you need to read ahead to stay with me, please do so.
