Course Outline: Basic tort law; intentional torts, negligence, strict liability; causation and problems of multiple parties; damages and compensation systems; derivative liability; special kinds of torts.

Course Notes:   Torts classes on Thursday September 28th and on Thursday November 2nd will be cancelled. You are required to attend the make-up classes on Friday September 22nd and November 17th from 2:30-4 PM in TUII-240.

For Torts:

For Monday, August 21: Please read textbook pages 1-19 and brief the case of Vosburg v. Putney using the format provided for this course.

For Wednesday, August 23: Please read textbook pages 19-30, brief the case of Garratt v. Dailey, and consider how you would answer problem 1 on page 26.

For Thursday, August 24: Please read textbook pages 32-41, brief the Fisher and Leichtman cases. Why does the outcome in the Leichtman case differ from the outcome in the McCracken case (discussed briefly at the bottom of page 34 and top of page 35)?
