Student Organizations

OUTLAW: STUDENTS FOR GAY, LESBIAN, BISEXUAL, AND TRANSGENDER (GLBT) CONCERNS is an organization devoted to the issues of GLBT students at the University of Houston Law Center. Membership is open to all Law Center students, regardless of sexual orientation, who share the concerns of lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders, and gay men. Outlaw plans activities and meetings on and off campus in order to allow its members to participate in the group at whatever level they find most comfortable. Significant companions and dependents are welcome at all functions.

OUTLAW provides social, academic, and professional development functions for its members.  We plan academic activities focused around sexual orientation issues.  Outlaw also organizes the attendance of Law Center students at the National Lavender Law conference.  We hosted not only panel discussions on issues such as gays in the military and lesbian parenting, but also mixers with law students from surrounding universities.  Additionally, we worked with the Law Center administration and faculty in order to design and provide a class titled "Sexual Orientation & the Law" taught by adjunct Professor Chris Bacon.
