Thomas Newhouse Mediation Competition

The Tom Newhouse Mediation Competition is a single elimination competition open to 1L, 2L, and 3L students.  Teams are comprised of two students – an attorney and a client.  This competition runs concurrently with a national mediator competition.  Problem sets are available one hour before the mediation round begins.  All needed information is available in your packet – no outside research is required to understand the problem.  Teams are scored by local practicing attorneys and judges on the basis of the students’ case analysis, creativity, presentation, expression of the client’s goals, skills of compromise, and professional courtesy.  1 hour of course credit is available for students who also complete the written component of the competition.  Cash prizes may be available for students competing.
