May 15, 2018 -- University of Houston Law Center LL.M. student Natalie Nowiski '18 had an article featured in this month's Energy Bar Association's Energy Law Journal.

Her article, "Rising Above the Storm: Climate Risk Disclosure and its Current and Future Relevance to the Energy Sector" was the lead item in the publication's 39th volume. The Energy Law Journal was established in 1980 and publishes two issues a year.

"It is an honor to have my work published and selected as the lead article by the Energy Law Journal," Nowiski said. "The article analyzes key international and domestic factors that will be exerting pressure on energy companies to provide more comprehensive and substantive climate risk disclosures to stakeholders and their investors.

"It also provides strategies that U.S. energy companies can utilize in response to these pressures, and how it is in their long-term interests to participate in the formulation of industry standards for climate risk disclosure."

Nowiski recently graduated Law Center's Environment, Energy & Natural Resources Center's LL.M. program. She earned her J.D. from the University of Toronto and completed her undergraduate education at McGill University in Montreal.

"Natalie is a dedicated student, and it is great to see her scholarship and research receive the recognition it deserves," Associate Professor Gina Warren said.
