The University of Houston Law Center is mourning the loss of Emeritus Professor James Covington, who succumbed to prostate cancer in Houston on July 11, 2010.
Professor Covington earned B.B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and an LL.M. degree from Yale University. He joined the faculty of the Law Center in 1964 and was an energetic and respected teacher of Property, Business Organizations, Accounting in Law, Insurance, Evidence, and Logic of Law. He retired in 2001 with the honored title of Emeritus Professor of Law.
Professor Covington is survived by his wife, Janet Covington; sons James Covington III, Tom Covington and wife Michelle Mourad; daughters Elizabeth (Betsy) Covington and Susan Covington; and sister Martha Murphy.
A memorial service will be held in Houston on Thursday, July 15, at 11:00 a.m. at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church, 6221 Main Street (77030). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the James Covington Scholarship Fund at the University of Houston Law Center, 100 Law Center, Houston, TX, 77204-6060.
