Law Center students took their advocacy skills to Dallas for the annual Texas Young Lawyers Association Moot Court Competition and returned with “Best Brief” and “Best Speaker” honors.  The team of Law Center 3Ls – Randy Macchi, Erin Stanley, and Emily Ziemba – was recognized for writing the best brief, while Maachi claimed the top speaker award. The team was edged out by one point in the semi-final round by Baylor. “Considering Texas is probably the most competitive moot court region in the country, boasting five schools nationally ranked in the top 25 moot court programs, our team recorded an impressive performance,” said Jim Lawrence ’07, director of the Blakely Advocacy Institute.   Coaches at the TYLA competition included Merle Morris ‘92, Tom and Kristina Van Arsdel, ’98 and ’03 respectively.
