Jan. 26, 2015- Everyone in this room is good at something, focus on your strengths and find a path that works for you said Daniel Sternthal, an attorney at Seyfarth Shaw LLP, as he addressed a group of students at career panel event hosted by the UHLC Health Law Organization today.
Sternthal along with his colleague Renee Lowe from the Harris County Attorney’s Office, discussed the importance of communications, interpersonal skills, and how students should approach their first interview.
“Having a high GPA is not enough anymore” said Lowe. “You compete with a lot of people, which is why you have to overcome your weaknesses or learn how to work around them.”
Law Students like 1L George Hayek had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the professionals and their careers.
“I really enjoy workshops like these because they give more insight about jobs that you might be interested in,” said Hayek.
Sternthal encouraged students to read Tomorrows Lawyers, a book that mentions how the profession is changing as well as skills students should focus on that will aid them in the future.
