Perry names Jacob Monty ’93 to higher ed board

Jan. 22, 2014 – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Jacob M. Monty, a 1993 graduate of the Law Center and former UH System regent, to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for a term to expire Aug. 31, 2015. The board sets policies and coordinates efforts to improve higher education in Texas.

Monty is managing partner and founder of Monty and Ramirez LLP, a Houston employment, labor, and immigration law firm. He has been named a “Super Lawyer” by Texas Super Lawyers since 2008, and is board certified in labor and employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is a member of the American Bar Association and American Law Institute, and author of two books on immigration and employment. He is also a former appointee of President George W. Bush to the North American Development Bank Board of Directors and the Border Environmental Cooperation Commission.
