UHLC Dean's Awards honor outstanding students

Winners recognized for their academic achievements and personal qualities

April 25, 2013 - University of Houston Law Center Interim Dean Richard Alderman awarded approximately $146,000 in scholarships to exceptional students Wednesday evening during the annual Dean's Awards ceremony.  Sixty-eight scholarships and special awards were given to more than 120 students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in various areas including academics, volunteer service, and commitment to specialized legal fields. Interim Dean Richard Alderman congratulates Karla V. Garcia after she was awarded the Robert C. Sohns '72 Fellowship. Clinical Associate Professor Richard McElvaney announced the winner awarded to a student who has shown an interest in public service. Garcia will serve as a summer intern at Lone Star Legal Aid.

Theresa E. Langley received the AT&T Pro Bono Fellowship and will be working full-time this summer for a public interest or government agency.
