Jan. 8, 2013 – The University of Houston Law Center is drawing upon its own faculty experts to present a four-part series of monthly lectures beginning Jan. 29 with an examination of tax issues for small businesses. Subsequent topics in the Legal Excellence Speaker Series will include health care, the effect of energy and environmental law on business opportunities, and international trade.
All lectures are free and open to the public and will be held at the Hilton Americas Hotel, 1600 Lamar, downtown, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. One hour of participatory CLE credit will be awarded to attorneys in attendance.
The Legal Excellence series was kicked off in October by Law Center Professor and Chairman of the Greater Houston Partnership Anthony R. Chase who noted the key role education plays in the city's future. "Houston has a brilliant future – provided that we have an educated workforce to sustain our economic growth," Chase said. "The University of Houston Law Center understands the needs of the Houston region and is working to meet those needs. In turn, Houston's business community is working with the Law Center to further educate its future workforce."
