On April 16, Olivas also will give the Marla Dickerson Lecture on Public Interest at Northern Illinois University College of Law. He will lecture on the subject, "Lessons Learned about the Legalization Debate, or Why Comprehensive Immigration Reform is in the Public Interest." The Marla Dickerson Public Interest Lecture Series was established in honor of a former student who died in a plane crash in 1994. Her family funds the series which brings nationally known speakers to the Northern Illinois University College of Law in DeKalb to discuss current issues relating to public interest.
