OlivasJan. 27, 2012 – University of Houston Law Center Professor Michael A. Olivas was interviewed today for a documentary that will follow the lives of three new immigrants: a Mexican in the U.S., an African in Germany, and a Brazilian in Japan. Co-produced by Telenews and Magnatel, "A Fistful of Dollars, The New Emigrants" aims to tell the stories of the immigrants showing their daily hardships. The film also will focus on their impact on the local and global economy as well as how the small average money transfers sent to their families are crucial, not only for their survival, but also in sustaining the economies of their native countries. As part of the project which is currently in production, Olivas answered questions about his new NYU Press book, “No Undocumented Child Left Behind.”
