Jan. 9, 2012 -- University of Houston Law Center Professor Michael A. Olivas was honored by his colleagues and friends Friday, Jan. 5, during a reception in Washington, D.C., as he ended his tenure as president of the Association of American Law Schools. The “Let’s Hail Our Chief Reception” hosted by Law Center Dean Raymond T. Nimmer was held during the annual meeting of the AALS with its theme of academic freedom and academic duty. Olivas is the William B. Bates Distinguished Chair of Law and director of the Institute of Higher Education Law & Governance at the Law Center.
