A Law Center veteran and a first-year faculty member have been honored by two student organizations as their choice for “Professor of the Year.” The Student Bar Association selected constitutional law Prof. David Dow while the Order of the Barons chose criminal law Prof. Adam Gershowitz. Dow, founder of the Texas Innocence Network and the litigation director at the Texas Defender Service, joined the faculty in 1988. Working with Law Center students, he has represented more than one hundred death row inmates in their state and federal appeals. His areas of expertise include contracts, constitutional law and theory, and death penalty law. Gershowitz came to the Law Center last fall from South Texas College of Law where he also was honored with several teaching awards. He teaches and writes in the areas of criminal law and procedure.
