HJIL guest lecturer examines international control of toxic chemicals

Dr. David VanderZwaag, professor of international environmental law and law of the sea at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, will be the guest speaker at the 8th annual Houston Journal of International Law Lecture March 25. His topic is "The Precautionary Principle/Approach and the International Control of Toxic Chemicals: Beacon of Hope, Sea of Confusion, and Dilution." Dr. VanderZwaag holds the Canada Research Chair in Ocean Law and Governance at the university’s Marine & Environmental Law Institute.  He has authored more than 50 papers in the marine and environmental law field. The lecture will be held at the Magnolia Hotel, 1100 Texas Ave., downtown, on Thursday, March 25 from 5:30-7 p.m. with a reception to follow. The free lecture offers 1 hour of CLE credit.
