An article written by Yuichi Watanabe ’09 and published in the Law Center’s Houston Business and Tax Law Journal has been selected for publication in the 2010 Patent Law Review, an anthology of patent law articles. His article, Patent Licensing and the Emergence of a New Patent, discusses the current state of the US patent licensing market with a focus on the role played by “patent trolls” and a new breed of licensing firms who assist them in enforcing their patent rights. His most recent article, The Doctrine of Patent Exhaustion: The Impact of Quanta Computer, Inc., v. LG Elecs., Inc.,was selected for publication by the Journal of Law and Technology at the University of Virginia Law School. Watanabe is currently a patent attorney with Osha Liang LLP in Houston. His practice emphasizes patent prosecution as well as patent litigation, licensing, and opinion matters in a wide variety of technology areas.
