A trio of leading Law Center alums held court for attentive and inquisitive students during a luncheon series that lets them explain exactly what they do and how they came to do it. The “Day in the Life” Speaker Series hosted by the Houston Law Alumni Association put the spotlight on three practicing attorneys and their areas of practice. The group included George Gibson ’95 (Commercial Litigation); Louis Davis ’76, (Energy); and Alvin Zimmerman ’67 (Family law). Each outlined the scope of their work and how they gravitated toward a specific area of the law. Two themes recurred during the lunch hour discussion: “Things change” and, of particular interest to students looking for jobs in this economy, “Keep the faith – because good things will happen.” The biggest laugh of the session was provoked by a student who first complimented the trio for being highly successful – and then bluntly asked, “Are you hiring?” Two additional “Day in the Life” sessions are planned, with practitioners in Personal Injury, Criminal and Health Care Law speaking on Feb. 18; and speakers on Real Estate, Intellectual Property and Environmental Law visiting the Law Center on Feb. 25.
