MEMO TO FACULTY & STAFF OF THE LAW CENTER

I am very pleased to announce that a visiting member of our faculty – Larry O’Neil Putt – has been named the dean of the Alben W. Barkley School of Law in Paducah, Kentucky.  Larry has played an indispensable role at the Law Center since joining us from Washburn University School of Law in Fall 2007 to teach a total of five classes: Property, Trusts and Will, Land Use, Water Law and Oil and Gas.  Those wide-ranging topics allude to the depth of his legal expertise, and I am including his substantial curriculum vitae for your information.  In reading it, you should note that he previously served as dean and professor of law at Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama, and his experience as a “seasoned dean” (in the words of one news report announcing his new position) will serve him well as he seeks ABA accreditation for the Barkley School of Law.

I was impressed by Larry when I first met him, and my first impressions have grown into a true admiration of the man and his work.  Please join me in wishing him the best when he leaves at the end of our spring semester to begin his new duties as dean of the Barkley School of Law.
