Imagine covering a marathon distance in one day – only to wake up the next day and knock off another half-marathon? A quartet from the Law Center did exactly that when they joined several hundred walkers covering 39.3 miles during the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Houston. The soleful group included Professor (and Avon Team Captain) Marcilynn Burke; Associate Dean for Student Affairs Sondra Tennessee; Assistant Dean for Admissions Jamie West; and Associate Director of Admissions Lisa Buentello. All told, the foursome raised $11,807, with Prof. Burke finishing “in the money” as one of the most successful fundraisers of the event. Dean Tennessee ended up ahead of the pack in a different way: crossing the finish line tied for 5th on Day One and tied for 1st on Day Two.
