Nov. 13, 2014 – The University of Houston Law Center moot court program ranks 13th in the nation based upon points accumulated in national moot court competitions, prelaw Magazine noted in its Fall edition.
“Our ranking is based on success in the 2013-14 academic year competitions,” said Jim Lawrence, director of the Blakely Advocacy Institute, “and is a result of a ton of hard work by our students – and our coaches, most of whom are Law Center alums.”
The ranking system was developed by the Blakely Advocacy Institute housed at the Law Center to determine the nation’s 16 best moot court teams. Qualifying teams are invited to compete in the annual Andrews Kurth Moot Court National Championship in January. The goal is to determine a true champion at the end of the three-day tournament, now in its seventh year.
This year’s winner was the University of Georgia. Previous winners include Georgetown, South Texas College of Law, and the John Marshall Law School.
