Oct. 26, 2012 – University of Houston Law Center students Mariana Avendano Bolivar and Kristy Williams have been named the winners of the Foreign LL.M. pumpkin design contest. More than 200 students, faculty and staff at the Law Center cast their vote. Aside from bragging rights, the winners received a $25 Visa Gift Card.

Both Bolivar and Williams showcased their carving skills and departed from the traditional jack-o-lantern. Playing on the phrase “pumpkin pie,” Williams dedicated her design to pi, the mathematical constant. Bolivar opted to carve a Halloween scene elaborate enough to come from a Tim Burton movie. Other submissions in the contest included a vomiting pumpkin, an Angry Bird, and a Hello Kitty.

The contest was one of the many cultural enrichment events the Graduate Legal Studies department provides to FLL.M. students at the Law Center each year. For more information about the LL.M.
