Oct. 26, 2012 – The National Jurist has ranked Houston the 10th best metropolitan area in the nation for recent law graduates to live and start their careers. The rankings were based on standard of living, the size of the legal community and presence of an active social scene for young people. The National Jurist ranked 71 cities in total.

To determine the standard of living, the National Jurist used NALP’s buying power index. The category counted for 30 percent of the ranking for each city. Size of legal community was based on percentage of the population with legal occupations using the 2010 U.S. Census, and the number of law firms in each metropolitan area. The social scene was measured by the percentage of young people ages 24-34, and Sperling’s Places, which ranked each city from one to 10 based on the amount of arts and culture.
