Boy Scouts of America honor Chase

UHLC professor is recognized for helping urban and rural youth

Oct. 1, 2012 – University of Houston Law Center Professor Tony Chase, chairman of the Greater Houston Partnership, has been awarded the 2012 Whitney M. Young, Jr. Service Award for his superior service on behalf of the Boy Scouts of America.

The award recognizes outstanding services by an individual or organization for demonstrated involvement in the development of Scouting opportunities for youth from urban or low-income rural backgrounds.

Past Houston-area Honorees include the Honorable Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, U.S. House of Representatives, the Reverend William Lawson, founding pastor, Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, J. Downey Bridgwater, Houston Market President, Comerica Bank, and the Upper Kirby Association.  Mr. Bridgwater is the Honorary Chair for this year’s event. 

The award was presented on Thursday, Sept. 27 at the 2012 Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award Luncheon “Ready, Set, Scout: Building Our Future Leaders.”
