Dec. 1, 2011 – The University of Houston Law Center O’Quinn Law Library’s blog has gained momentum, surpassing 20,000 page views this month. The blog, entitled Nota Bene, addresses legal research techniques and resources, developments in the world of legal information and noteworthy legal news reports.

“The items, contributed by our librarians, vary from the intensely analytical to the highly amusing; all are substantive,” O’Quinn Law Library Director and Associate Professor of Law Spencer L. Simons said. “The quality of the contributions to our blog is attested to by the number of repeat visitors we have and the origin of the visits.”

Currently receiving approximately 1,700 views per month, the blog is popular among Texas and U.S. users and has attracted international visitors from Russia, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Canada, and Australia, to name a few.

Contributors include past and present O’Quinn Reference and Research Librarians Dan Baker, Chris Dykes, Emily Lawson, Matt Mantel, Saskia Mehlhorn, and Lauren Schroeder, as well as Director Spencer Simons and Associate Director Mon Yin Lung, who has spearheaded this venture. Librarians post at least two items per week on the blog.

“Nota Bene” means “note this well” or “take particular notice.”
