Oct. 13, 2011 - University of Houston Law Center Professor Tracy Hester has been named Houston’s Environmental “Lawyer of the Year” for 2012 in a survey conducted by Best Lawyers in America, a peer-review publication.
Best Lawyers compiles its lists of outstanding attorneys by conducting exhaustive peer-review surveys in which thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. The current, 18th edition of The Best Lawyers in America is based on more than 3.9 million detailed evaluations of lawyers by other lawyers.
According to Best Lawyers in America, the lawyers being honored as “Lawyers of the Year” have received particularly high ratings in our surveys by earning a high level of respect among their peers for their abilities, professionalism, and integrity. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community has been chosen as the “Lawyer of the Year.”
Hester is currently the Director of the University of Houston Law Center's Environment, Energy and Natural Resource Center. Linking energy issues with impacts on environment and natural resources, the Center provides a forum for education and discussion on climate change, air pollution, clean coal and renewable energy.
