Seven UHLC students receive scholarships to attend Texas Health Law Conference

Oct. 10, 2011 – Seven University of Houston Law Center students received scholarships to attend the 2011 Texas Health Law Conference which opens today in Austin. George Gooch, Jarrett Dziuk, Melody Wang, Cauley Gieb, Andrea Penedo, and Erin Boeer received scholarships from the State Bar of Texas.  Alba G. Reyes-Santos received a scholarship from the Health Law & Policy Institute.

Sponsored by the Texas Hospital Association and the Health Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, the conference is one of the preeminent health law conferences in the state. UH Law Center students attending the conference will participate in two days of legal education. Topics will include Health Care Privacy and Security, Accountable Health Organizations: How to Achieve Real Change with Health Care Reform, Antitrust Developments, and Provider Enrollment: The New First Line of Enforcement. In addition, scheduled discussions will explore the developments and key cases in health care antitrust law, including federal agency enforcement and federal and state regulatory developments regarding ACOs and health care collaboratives.
