HBA hosts joint faculty meeting at Law Center

There was no shortage of legal scholars as faculties of Houston’s three law schools met at the Law Center to discuss innovative skills training in a joint session hosted each year by the Houston Bar Association. University of Houston Law Center Dean Raymond Nimmer welcomed fellow deans -- Donald J. Guter of South Texas College of Law, left, and Dannye R. Holley of Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Professors David East of South Texas and Lydia Johnson of TSU outlined their respective courses in transactional skills and trial simulation. Jim Lawrence, director of the Blakely Advocacy Institute at the Law Center, proposed a curriculum of the future with students forming into “law firms” and choosing one of a number of tracks heading specifically toward their career goal. A reception followed in the Frankel Room.
