Fall 2010 - Fun Facts

Another group of high-achieving students is set to tackle the rewards and ardors of learning the law as Fall Semester classes begin at the Law Center on Monday, Aug. 23.

The Class of 2013 includes 204 full-time students and 63 part-time students.  Fast facts on this group of 267 lawyers-in-the-making include:

• Undegraduate degrees from 111 schools, with the University of Texas-Austin accounting for 23% of the total.

• Political Science is the favored undergraduate degree, followed by Economics, Psychology, History and (surprisingly) Biology!

• 35 incoming students hold graduate degrees, including three with Ph.D.s and five with M.B.A.s

• Seven students arrived with “at least” a 4.0 GPA, and the median GPA for the group is 3.41. 

• Median LSAT score for the Class of 2013 is 162 – the highest in Law Center history.

• Ages range from 21 to 53 , and the male/female ratio is 58/42.

• Minorities account for 32% of the class, marking the Law Center as one of the most diverse campuses in the nation.  

• Ten students speak three or more languages, and one speaks six!  Proficiencies include Spanish, French, German, Russian, Urdu, Gujarati, Mandarin Chinese, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Bengali, Japanese, Italian, Swahili, Portuguese, Korean, Vietnamese, Farsi, Khachi, Arabic, Latin, Polish, Telugu and American Sign Language.

• The Class of 2013 includes a violinist for the Houston Symphony Orchestra, a number of marathoners and triathletes, a US National Champion swimmer, an Olympic soccer team member, two cancer survivors and at least 10 published authors.
