Law Center team takes 2nd place at National Civil Trial Competition
Mock trial competitions have a long history of throwing farfetched cases at their combatants, and the tradition continued at the prestigious National Civil Trial Competition in Los Angeles. A team from the Law Center earned 2nd place after blunting up against the “facts” – a hypothetical case involving a law student who was expelled after suing his school for misrepresenting its accreditation status. The Law Center team of Amanda Frase 3L, Sara Waller 3L, Brandon Collins 2L and Mike Streich 2L finished behind the team from Stetson University College of Law in the final round. Sixteen teams competed in the elite, invitation-only tournament at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. More Law Center teams hit the road later this week to compete in a National Moot Court Competition regional tourney on Nov. 18-21 at Texas Tech School of Law; and the ABA Labor & Employment Law’s Trial Advocacy Competition held in Dallas on Nov. 21-22.
