INTERNATIONAL
LAW
THE EXPLOSIVE GROWTH OF THE GLOBAL MARKETPLACE and increasing interdependence place a premium
on lawyers who fully comprehend the international implications of various public, private,
and commercial activities. Through the international law curriculum at the UH Law
Center, students gain an in-depth understanding of international and comparative law and
their roles in our domestic legal process.
The Master of Laws program in International Law allows concentrations in both public and
private aspects of international law and provides an opportunity for lawyers to structure their
LL.M. curriculum to meet their particular interests and needs. LL.M. candidates may choose
either to focus their studies in a particular area of international law or to achieve a broad
understanding of public and private aspects of international law by taking a wide selection of
courses. The curriculum focuses on all aspects of international law, including energy and environment
law, international trade, NAFTA, intellectual property law, human rights, immigration,
arbitration, litigation, and international criminal law. The rich array of courses and seminars
in international economic law allows students to concentrate in that area.
