Reducing Spam
To reduce the growing amount of SPAM or unsolicited email, the
University of Houston will begin filtering out spam or unsolicited
email from all faculty, staff, and student mailboxes starting on May
18th. Beginning on that date, each afternoon you will receive a
daily digest through email that lists the messages filtered from
your email inbox. From this daily digest you will be able either to
release the message for delivery to your inbox or confirm that it is
spam. You will receive this daily digest every day to review the
blocked messages. The more you use this system, the "smarter" and
more accurate in spam removal it will become.
You will not need to do anything to have your spam blocked
more efficiently.
The PureMessage software can be customized to your
preferences, but customization is not required.
Spam messages will be quarantined outside of your mailbox, and will be
deleted automatically after being held for at least 30 days.
You may choose to opt out of PureMessage altogether.
