Those damned immigrants: America's
hysteria over undocumented immigration / Ediberto
Román, with a foreword by Michael A. Olivas. New
York University Press, 2013. KF4819.R65
2013 Those Damned Immigrants is a study that presents the immigrant’s side of the debate over immigration law reform. Dubbed as “today’s Edward R. Murrow” by Professor Michael Olivas in the Foreword, the author reviews the current state of the immigration debate, cites statistics that offer a counterpoint to several popular rhetorical arguments, and briefly examines several potential legal solutions with the potential to satisfy both sides of the issue. |

Saving the neighborhood: racially
restrictive covenants, law, and social norms / Richard R.W. Brooks and Carol
M. Rose. Harvard University Press, 2013. KF662.B76
2013 Saving the Neighborhood is a historical overview of the legal treatment of real estate covenants that were once used to prevent neighborhood integration. The authors trace the development of the legal theory of racially exclusive covenants from the arguments that originally justified them a century ago, to the Fair Housing Act that finally ended them, and finally to their legacy today. |
