Richard M. Alderman, Dee Pridgen. Consumer credit and the law. Thomson/West, c2003- KF1040.P75 This book explores preventive strategies to keep creditors out of court, and where to get information that can be used when researching consumer credit cases that actually reach litigation. Written for both those advising creditors and those representing the consumer, this text mirrors the chronological sequence of events in a consumer credit transaction. Coverage includes obtaining credit, Truth-in-Lending disclosures, and regulation of the price of credit, debt collection, and the credit consumer's remedies for various problems. A unique appendix, organized by state, provides individual state laws on credit discrimination, credit reporting, holder in due course, and cooling off periods. |

Yuval Shany. Regulating jurisdictional relations between national and international courts. Oxford University Press, 2009. K7625.S516 2009 This book seeks to investigate the growing jurisdictional interaction between national and international courts — i.e., their parallel involvement in the same or related disputes — in the light of competing theoretical, ideological, and methodological discourses on the nature of the relationship and the means to regulate it. In particular, it aims to explore what, if any, rules of international law could, or perhaps should govern such interactions, and regulate forum selection or multiple proceedings involving national and international courts. In addition, the book explores the standards of review employed by international courts vis-à-vis the decisions of their domestic counterparts and vice versa. It posits that the regulation of such interactions ultimately depends on the selection of the overarching paradigm that governs the relations between national and international courts (hierarchical/non-hierarchical and disintegrative or integrative). |
