John V. Orth How Many Judges Does it Take to Make a Supreme Court? includes essays designed to provide the law student with knowledge of legal history and common law beyond what is covered in the law school curriculum. John Orth concentrates heavily on how common law has evolved by learning from the past as well as its relationship with the making of statutory law. He casts doubt on the claim that individual liberties are grounded in common law and he discusses the correlation between the accuracy of court reporting and the power of judges in decision making. Finally, the author talks about the reasons appellate courts always consist of an odd number of judges. |
