FEATURED RESOURCE

Foreign Law Guide

The Foreign Law Guide database is the electronic version of the esteemed print publication Foreign Law: Current Sources of Codes and Basic Legislation in Jurisdictions of the World by Thomas H. Reynolds and Arturo A. Flores. This database provides guidance on where to find the laws of foreign countries. It explains the basic legal structure and available legal information resources for each country. Foreign language and English language resources are listed.

The database summarizes the laws on specific topics for each country, and directs the patron where to locate the laws. The database identifies the jurisdictions’ laws for over 100 subjects, including:

Copyright / Industrial Property

Environmental Protection

Family Law

Health Law

Petroleum

The publisher of the print edition of the Foreign Law Guide no longer provides updates, which means that the electronic format is now the only method to obtain the most current information.

The electronic database allows patrons search the database through a keyword search.

The database also includes finding tools for international conventions and treaties.

Patrons can access the Foreign Law Guide database through the law library's website at http://www.law.uh.edu/libraries/ by selecting "Foreign Law Guide" from the drop down menu under legal databases. Please contact the library if you have any questions about any of the library's databases.
