  According to Washington & Lee University’s 2008 law journal rankings, the Houston Journal of Health Law & Policy is among the top ten journals in the country in the category of Medicine, Health, and the Law -- 4th overall. This is part of the continuously upward trend for the journal since it was established in 2001. The Washington & Lee rankings examine health law related journals worldwide and rank according to several factors discussed on their website.

  In the Washington & Lee ranking of Medicine, Health, and the Law journals based on "impact factor," which is a ratio of the number of times other journals cite to our journal compared with the number of articles published in a ranking period, the Houston Journal of Health Law & Policy is tied for first place, ahead of Yale Journal of Health Policy, Law, and Ethics.
