Paul H. Asofsky was a partner for 20 years in the Houston office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where he headed the Tax section. His practice included the full range of federal and state tax issues, with emphasis on private investment partnerships, mergers & acquisitions, real estate investments and bankruptcy, and debt restructuring. He headed the private equity group within the firm’s tax department. Asofsky retired from the firm in 2010.
As senior adviser to the Law Center’s LL.M. tax program, Asofsky will teach a course in Bankruptcy Tax that he created as an adjunct professor at NYU and has taught here as an adjunct since 2009. He also will teach a tax policy seminar. In addition, he will provide career counseling to LL.M. students and serve as a contact to law firms, accounting firms, corporate tax departments and alumni of the tax LL.M. program.
Asofsky earned a B.A. from Columbia University in1962 and his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1965.
