Erma Caroline Bonadero
Director of the Government and Nonprofit Externship Program and the Judicial Externship Program
ERMA BONADERO is an Assistant Clinical Professor and the Director of the Externship Program and Judicial Externship Program. In this capacity, she oversees upper-level students’ field placements which occur in judicial chambers, government agencies and nonprofit organizations. Professor Bonadero guides students through their workplace experiences and trains field placement supervisors regarding their responsibilities in making the externship a valuable educational experience for the student.
Professor Bonadero acquired her undergraduate degree from Texas State University (cum laude), and her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center, where she was a research editor of the Houston Law Review. During her final semester she served as a judicial intern for The Honorable Judge Edith R. Jones of the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Upon law school graduation, Prof. Bonadero worked as a civil litigator in the Houston office of an international law firm. She later served as an Assistant Harris County Attorney in the Children’s Protective Division, handling cases of alleged child abuse and neglect, and as an Attorney Placement Director at a national legal recruiting corporation. Through the UHLC’s A.A. White Dispute Resolution Center, Prof. Bonadero became certified in both mediation and advanced arbitration skills. She also is a Myers-Briggs certified trainer.
Professor Bonadero is a Texas Bar Foundation Fellow and a member of various nonprofit boards of directors.
