Mr. McCay is the principal of McCay Law, which provides legal and consulting services to companies and attorneys on complex matters and projects. He spent over three decades working as in-house counsel for Chevron and Texaco, involved in upstream and downstream areas of the oil and gas industry. Most recently, he counselled company management on legal issues in Gulf of Mexico deepwater leasing and operations, negotiated complex contracts that cumulatively committed billions of dollars for offshore goods and services, and advised various departments on responses to governmental inquiries. Earlier in his career, he counselled company management on environmental laws and litigated environmental, commercial, and tort claims in federal and state courts.
Mr. McCay is a graduate of the American University Washington College of Law with a Juris Doctorate degree. He is a graduate of Denison University with a History and Political Science Bachelor of Arts degree. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Houston Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel and is a member of various sections in the Texas and Houston Bar Associations. He is licensed to practice law in Texas and New York.
