Mr. Bacon has taught at the Law Center since 1992. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School (J.D. cum laude 1990), and the University of Houston (B.A, summa cum laude, 1979, M.Ed. 1982). Mr. Bacon specializes in labor and employment law and is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Labor and Employment Law. He has tried over 30 cases and has argued a dozen times before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is listed as a "Texas Super Lawyer" in employment litigation, Texas Monthly, 2003-2005; Chambers USA: America's Leading Business Lawyers in employment law, 2006. Mr. Bacon also has experience in criminal law and served as an Assistant Federal Public Defender for the Southern District of Texas from 1993 through 1996.
Mr. Bacon was a founding member of what is now the Stonewall Lawyers, a organization for gay, lesbian and transgendered lawyers in the Greater Houston area. He is also a former president of the Houston Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus. Mr. Bacon provides pro bono legal services to Lone Star Legal Aid, the Houston Grand Opera, and the Alley Theatre.
