TOPIC: OSHA ENFORCEMENT TRENDS THAT EVERY ENVIRONMENTAL LAWYER NEEDS TO KNOW
The HBA Environmental Law Section invites you to join us for our October CLE luncheon. After its most "successful" year ever of citation issuance in 2010, OSHA continues to aggressively pursue enforcement. Notable and newsworthy topics to be discussed that can have a bearing on your environmental practice include the expanse of General Duty Clause enforcement, process safety management and other National Emphasis Programs, the Severe Violator Enforcement Program, and the proposed "I2P2" or Injury Illness and Prevention Program regulation.
Matthew Deffebach has represented employers nationally in contesting OSHA citations and defended corporations in actions brought by federal and state departments of labor. He heads up the OSHA practice group at Haynes and Boone and is a frequent speaker nationally on OSHA matters. He has appeared in over 20 other administrative trials in Texas, New York, California, Maryland, Utah, and Florida to represent clients in contested OSHA or state OSHA proceedings. Jim Shelton is a Compliance Assistance Specialist in OSHA’s Houston office and will provide valuable insight into the agency’s enforcement priorities and practices.
Networking and registration is from 11:30 am to 12:00. Lunch will begin promptly at noon and the presentation will start at 12:15 p.m. Valet parking is available at a cost of $7.00. Public Transportation is available. Nearest MetroRail Station: Bell.
