4 hours CLE with 4 hours of ethics included

This unique CLE event will explore the practical ethical issues attorneys face, using the play “An Interview” by David Mamet to start the discussion.


1:00PM - 1:10PM: Introduction to "Ethics in Advocacy: Where Rules Meet Reality."

1:10PM - 1:55PM: Play, “An Interview” by David Mamet

1:55PM - 3:10PM: "An Interview" - A Discussion of the Ethics Issues and Rules

Description -

Presentation of “An Interview” followed by an ethics discussion of the Ethical Rules implicated in the play.  The discussion will be led by Professor Meredith Duncan

3:10PM - 3:20PM: BREAK

3:20PM - 5:20PM: Real World Ethical Situations

Description - 

Panel discussion of real world ethical situations – and the Ethical Rules involved in each situation.  The panel is constructed around specific practice perspectives covering the range of the dispute resolution continuum, including the judicial, mediation, arbitration, civil litigation, criminal law, and corporate counsel perspective.

Although the event is free for University of Houston Law Center alumni, you must register to attend. 

Event Details

The event will start promptly at 1PM in Room 144 BLB. Accordingly, please plan to arrive by 12:30PM to complete registration and sign in for CLE credit.

This is a technology friendly event. We will be distributing USB flash drives with speaker papers. Please bring your laptop if you'd like to view documents during the lectures.
