We face an urgent national crisis at the intersection of poverty and race that puts a Black boy born in 2001 at a 1 in 3 chance of going to prison in his lifetime and a Latino boy a 1 in 6 chance of the same fate. The Cradle to Prison Pipeline Campaign is a national call to action to stop the funneling of tens of thousands of youth, predominantly minorities, down life paths that often lead to arrest, conviction, incarceration and, in some cases, death.
Join the Children's Defense Fund, the University of Houston, the Center for Children, Law & Policy and advoactes from across Texas in identifying effective strategies to dismantle the Pipeline at the Cradle to Prison Pipeline Texas Summit, March 14, 2008, in Houston, Texas. CDF President Marian Wright Edelman will deliver the keynote address at the event.
