$4,000 ACC Houston Chapter Diversity Scholarship

The American Corporate Counsel Houston Chapter intends to grant five $4,000 merit-based scholarships to qualified students at each of the three Houston-area law schools. The scholarships will consist of one-time grants that will be awarded to the recipients only once in their law school years.
Our law school has been asked to identify 10 qualified candidates, from which the ACC Houston chapter will select five (5) merit-based scholarship recipients.
The goal is to give the scholarships to students, who will be in their second or third year at our law school in the fall of 2008, and who meet the following criteria in order of importance:
(1) Attendance at our law school in 2008-2009;
(2) Academic accomplishment (i.e., official transcript reflecting student¿s calculated GPA and overall ranking in top third of his or her class);
(3) Diverse status as a racial or ethnic minority;
(4) Extra-curricular activities (e.g., pro bono);
(5) Service to the law school; and
(6) Financial need (no financial transcript required)
If you are interested in applying for the scholarship, write an essay that includes i) an introductory paragraph about yourself, ii) a paragraph discussing items (2) through (6) above, iii) a paragraph about the importance of diversity in the legal profession, iv) complete the scholarship application cover letter (click on the link below). The essay should be limited to 500 words. A resume must also be included with the essay and academic transcript.
Please provide your application cover letter, essay, resume, and official academic transcript to Associate Dean Sondra Tennessee by April 14, 2008 in order to be considered for an ACC Houston chapter scholarship.
