| On behalf of the Blakely Advocacy Institute at the University of Houston Law Center,
we are looking forward to hosting the “Top 16” Moot Court programs from around
the country in January 2009. It promises to be a genuine Texas shootout producing
a winning team that can truly call itself a “national champion.”
Teams qualify for this National Championship via the old-fashioned way: they earn it!
Top performances in major moot court tournaments throughout the United States
will earn points, and the top 16 teams on the final list gain a coveted spot in the
first “true” Moot Court National Championship.
We’re honored to serve as hosts for this tournament. We are nationally ranked for
the quality of our advocacy program (#14 by U.S. News & World Report), and our
moot court and mock trial teams have enjoyed an amazing run of success, earning
more than 20 titles in regional, national and international competitions over the
past two years. In short, the timing is perfect for the Blakely Advocacy Institute to
host the first Moot Court National Championship.
Hoping to see you in Houston in January 2009.
